Kathryn & Kevin, TBM September 12, 2009

Kathryn & Kevin are getting married September 12, 2009. They live in Chicago, but were in Minneapolis this past weekend for a little marriage preparation. We met up bright and early Saturday morning to get in their engagement session.

Which, to my delight, they brought along their lovely dog Elwood.

When I shoot kids I feel a wave of joy and happiness come over me. There is something about those pint-sized smiles that reminds me to stop and feel the joy and remember why I started photographing in the first place. The joy of life. To document lives in ways that show true emotion. True joy. And what shows true joy for a beautiful little girl better than yes, go jump on that bed of yours and smile and giggle!

Let me see if I can say this correctly, Lisa & Jason met through Jason's brother and his wife, who just happens to be Lisa's good friend. Earlier this year I traveled to Chicago to shoot their engagement session, which did involve one terrific Ferris Wheel ride! Thanks for inviting me to photograph your wedding day!

I must confess, I have the best job. I really do. Yip, it's a lot of work, on the day of a wedding and then all the behind the scenes extras. But I really enjoy my clients, I enjoy getting to spend a day in their life and seeing the joy their hearts are filled with.

Holly and Jason gave me what they had. Their wedding day was rainy for almost the whole day, but there was a tender moment of sunlight, the rain passed and we headed outside. The gaze in her eyes to him, the thoughfulness he had for her-making sure her dress wouldn't get wet for their ceremony...just an uber terrific couple! Thanks Holly and Jason for showing your love for one another and for letting me photograph it!

Posing is so hard sometimes isn't it? When I had my head shots done for the blog and website, I felt so silly...I couldn't cop a pose for the life of me, so I understand it's hard to get someone else to pose. So it's great when I get a portrait like this, emotion filled and natural.

Liz & Zack from the St. Bernard Project

I got an email from Liz and Zach this morning, the co founders of the St. Bernard Project. They started a blog to keep volunteers, families and everyone else who seem to be wondering how things are in Louisiana.
