Delight, 10.28.2008

My grandmother's name was Delight. How can one go wrong with a name like Delight! She was a wonderful soul who walked amongst us, with breathtaking charm and beauty. She was married to Wildy, yes, my grandfather's name was Wildy! He too was a true charmer. The two of them attended just about every single piano recital, Girl Scout event, Tennis match, Choir and Band concert, graduation, birthday party, Christmas party, etc. They lived on a farm only 10 miles from our home and growing up it was a magical place to be a kid. Many a tree fort and play house were made in the woods surrounding the farm, we played endlessly with Wildy and Delight. And when it was time to eat, she could make the most amazing food treats I've ever eaten!

I said good bye to her this past Sunday. We actually drove through a snow storm as we neared her nursing home. She battled breast cancer for the last 2 years of her life. But on Sunday, you could tell she was ready to go.

So with that, I ask clients to be patient with delivery dates and deadlines as I am leaving tomorrow to visit with relatives and say good-bye one more time. I will check my email periodically, please email if something is of urgency.

Jessica & Ryan

I have so much more to post from this wedding, but wanted to share a few.

Teena & Bernie

Abraham Lincoln said, "Nothing valuable can ever be lost by taking time."

Teena and Bernie are my case in point! I've known them for a few years now and was flattered when they asked me to shoot their engagement session. We headed to St. Paul where they went on their first date. Which was a terrific way for me to get a chocolate croissant from Bread and Chocolate! Thanks so much for a great shoot and congratulations on your engagement!

Sweet little girl!

When asked if I photograph children, I exuberantly say "yes I do and I love it!" For me, photographing children is at it's best done environmentally. What does that mean...? Well, what is your child into at this particular age? Bubbles, barbies, a cardboard box that you've made into a playhouse, soccer, girl scouts, boy scouts, reading books under her bed? Any of these, photographed explains a great deal about your child at this particular age, which gives you a photo shoot filled with joy, love and interest.

Case in point, this sweet little girl! To K, thank you for thinking of me to photograph your lovely girl!

And what shoot would be complete without some goldfish!!

Collin & Krista's Engagement

Let's talk Physics, Love and running.

To take a sentence from my photog friend: Eliesa with Photogen-inc, Collin and Krista are the true meaning of the "Element of Love". They are both attending graduate school in Michigan, both getting their doctorates in Physics, both are cross country runners and both just got that "element" you need to fall in love. I thought, wow, that's amazing, they have endurance for running, endurance to achieve their doctorates (together nonetheless) and endurance to be married.

So Krista, good luck in your academics in becoming a nuclear chemist. Collin, good luck in your academics in becoming an engineer and to the both of you, congratulations on finding love! Good luck with the remainder of your running season too!

Surprised in hearts!

Lazy Sundays

I'm learning to relax and be lazy on Sundays. I took a note from not only my doctor but also from my lovely dogs.

Louie, who thinks this is his chair and basks in the sun.

Frankie who thinks the couch is his and yes, I found him cuddling that pillow.
